Indonesia

Indonesian puppet theatre is educational, moral, ritualistic, and at the same time, entertaining.

The characters are differentiated by looks and colors. Characters of thin eyes are elegant and educated; while those with round eyes are from a lower social level.

Plays are based especially on Indian epics, combined with Buddhist and Muslim stories, creating a repertoire unique in its genre.
