Guignol
Created in Lyon, in the beginning of the 19th century by the puppeteer Laurent Mourguet. He became so popular that he dethroned Polichinelle, the French direct descendant of the Italian Pulcinella. Inheritor of the revolution, he is an authentic popular hero.
Guignol is the interpreter of the feelings, aspirations, anger and revolt arising in people.
