Embark on a magical journey to the fantasy world of this film-themed exhibition featuring original puppets and authentic sets used in LITTLE FROM THE FISH SHOP movie. You can meet the “film stars” in person and see them literally in action. The set pieces and puppets are the work of Jan Balej, also the director and co-writer of Little. enjoy the story through this first-hand, tactile experience and get to know how an animated stop motion is made. The film LITTLE FROM THE FISH SHOP is an animated stop motion feature film combining puppets with digital animation. This modern adaptation of hans Christian Andersen’s famous fairy-tale “The Little Mermaid”, co-written and directed by Jan Balej, is a powerful story of unrequited love and the values of today’s society.The Sea King and his family, including our heroine Little, are forced to abandon the deep waters of their home and relocate to a big migrant-crowded city harbor where a great romance takes root…Jan Balej (30. 5.1958) is a Czech director, art designer, illustrator and scriptwriter. Graduated from VŠUP (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague) – Studio of Film and TV graphics, and studied in Paris (1986 – 1987) at École nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. in 1990, Jan Balej co-founded hafan film Praha, focusing on animated production, mainly puppet films. Known for Jedné noci v jednom meste / One Night in One City /2000/, Fimfárum 2 /2006/, and the most recent Malá z rybárny/Little from the Fish Shop , completed in 2015.
